This website is for all School Nurses and School Administrators working with students and families in the Special Education process. It is very important for School Nurses to understand the Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and how to apply this process. School Nurses will learn the principles and apply them by writing Present Level of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) summaries and writing student's IEP goals with health issues that are impacting student's learning.

Special Education for School Nurses has provided services to students and School Administrators for many years. Mrs. Frances Belmonte-Mann is an expert in the Special Education process with experience as a School Nurse, School Nurse Administrator, Clinical Instructor at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Nursing, and currently serves as a School Nurse Consultant.

Hands on training for educational and practical issues is very important for you to be successful in the school setting. School Nurses at times are very isolated and work very independently in a school site.
We offer this resource for the school nurse to consult with us and learn from us on this 1-1 consultation training with a conference call about the Special Education process.
